Welcome to the NEC 2021 TANGLAW: Liwanag sa Dilim Online Sessions! The following videos are designed for youth leaders, catechists, educators, parish workers and everyone else serving in the Church that will equip them with essential skills and methodologies on how to do new evangelization in their own settings.
500 years ago, we had that first encounter of our faith. As we celebrate the quincentenary of Christianity in the Philippines, let us discover how we can value this gift of faith and how we Catholic Filipinos, can accept the challenge of our Church to be the light to world.
We, as part of the church are called to be the new evangelizers – to continuously proclaim, transmit and witness to the Gospel by going to the “peripheries of existence” to open ourselves to and welcome other people’s lives, society, culture and history in order to let these realities enter the Person of Jesus and His living community, the Church.
Catholic Apologists are the new modern heroes of faith, defending it through right explanation of teachings, beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church. Seeking to remove objects and shed light on difficult matters and help plant the seeds of faith to win hearts and minds for Jesus.
In union with all people of good will, Christians, especially the laity, are called to this task of imbuing human realities with the Gospel. The Laity must exercise servant leadership in a way Jesus did “To serve, not to be served” (Matt 20:28; Mark 10:25). As Ministers of the Church, let us place ourselves at the service of the people, the mission and the vision.
God has called us, Catholics to take the unpopular stand, and be the voice of the Church at this present time. We are called to be the modern missionaries of our Catholic faith by boldly proclaiming his Gospel to the world.
Evangelization is about seeking the one lost sheep that has strayed from the sheepfold. The New Evangelization is about seeking the 99, even as these are already within the sheepfold.
